Our Formula for Success

At Equifax, we’ve developed a formula for creating positive effects. We call it The Equifax Quotient or EQ.

EQ = (People)X + (Passion)Y

It starts with People, the employees that power our ability to empower the financial decisions of individuals and companies across the globe. They’re smart, driven, and insanely talented. These traits are our X multiplier.

Next, we add our Passion for helping others and arming them with unique trusted data when it is needed most. We amplify this passion by Y, an unwavering enthusiasm for the work we do.

This formula for success has guided our transformation beyond a credit reporting agency into a leading global information services and technology company that helps companies make smarter business decisions and empowers consumers to take control of their financial futures.

What would you say to someone considering Equifax?
If you want to work on leading technology projects that are starting from scratch with enthusiastic like-minded individuals then this is the place to be.

How has Equifax encouraged your development since joining?
I participated in Equifax’s Women’s Leadership program. This allowed me to meet other women from technology where we discussed the challenges of working in the technology sector. It reinforced the need for more women to enter technology and Equifax champions this, as it advocates the need for more women to take up leadership roles.

What attracted you to Equifax?
I have always had an interest in working for a start-up as it would allow me the opportunity to build a team and to work with young, vibrant, and dynamic minds.

What was your first day/week like?
In my first week, I received invaluable training. This was brilliant as it allowed me time to settle into the office and I got to know new people who joined on the same day. During this week, I got a fantastic overview of the various Equifax products.

How has the company met your expectations?
Equifax has exceeded my expectations in that we work in an agile environment where the teams have a good mix of graduates and experienced people from different countries who strive to do things in a better way.

Have you been encouraged to come up with new ideas?
We work in an agile environment - the team structure is all about collaboration and working together to come up with new and innovative ideas.

What was your first day/week like?
I was greeted on my first day by a whiteboard saying, “Welcome Niamh Teeling” which kicked off an intense yet extremely insightful training week.

How has the company met your expectations?
In my time here, Equifax has presented opportunities to me to further develop, such as taking on new responsibilities within the Scrum team, attending specialised training, and industry-wide conferences.

I feel as though each employee is valued, in a supportive environment, as well as with perks and outings. We know we are part of a larger, thriving technology community.

What are some cool projects you have worked on?
I have been working on a big project since joining, which has given me an opportunity to work with teams across various locations in the US, and get exposure to UI/UX design and breakout planning sessions.

What attracted you to Equifax?
Entering the IT industry as an Economics graduate was something I hadn’t foreseen, and so it was a little scary. However, one of my favourite sayings is “Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

Because of this, I constantly seek out challenges, and I knew joining Equifax would be a good match.

What was your first day/week like?
We had a comprehensive orientation detailing the projects, technologies and history surrounding Equifax. Learning how to work in an agile team which we did in LEGO!

What attracted you to Equifax?
The attitude it has towards technology. It’s rare to see a multinational of its size raising a workforce with such a focus on graduates and developing new talent.

How would you describe the culture at Equifax?
The culture in Equifax can only be described as being focused on teamwork and collaboration. There is a high premium put on open communication and everyone’s voice is heard and considered, it’s an open discussion for all.

How has Equifax encouraged your development since joining?
I have been continuously learning best practices, ways of working, and how to write efficient clean code. I have also been given the chance to take on a mentorship role to newer graduates which has been very rewarding. It’s not just the day-to-day experience but there are also self-learning opportunities like ‘Lunch and Learns’ every month and a technical book club once a week.

How have managers at Equifax encouraged your career aspirations?
My manager has continuously made efforts to further promote my career aspirations by providing licences for online courses, buying technical books for the office and suggesting tech meet-ups to attend outside of work, the managers are really invested in helping you realize your potential and take on as much work as you think you can handle.
