What you’ll do:

The Big Data Platform & Quality Analyst is responsible for ensuring overall performance, availability and fitness of the big data analytic ecosystem of data, applications, tools and environments essential for Equifax Data and Analytics operations.  

This team member will analyze platform performance, coordinate activities with Administration, IT and D&A teams to implement new and improved platform functionality and systems to ensure continuous performance of applications critical for D&A success.  

This individual must have a balance of strong technical skills and business acumen in order to elevate performance & quality to the highest level for the company.  The individual will leverage data analysis skills and ability to learn quickly in a fast evolving technology environment.  

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 24 months. This role can either be based in Sydney or in Melbourne.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or Statistics.  Advanced degrees and certificates with direct applicability to requirements is a plus

  • A minimum of 2 years in Big Data skills including Hadoop, Python, Linux, BigQuery, GCP dataflow, SQL or equivalent

  • Experience with data analysis and problem solving with big data

  • Data mining skills and experience with BI tools such as Spotfire, Tableau or equivalent

  • Experience in the disciplines of data quality, data governance, data integration and data management

  • Complex problem-solving skills for the ability to identify technical performance gaps and develop solutions to fill gap

  • Listening and facilitation skills to understand what people say and to detect what they might be hesitant to say in order to elicit requirements and resolve complex issues

  • Observational skills to validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation

  • Writing skills, to communicate information effectively to technical staff, managers, and users

  • Organizational and project management skills to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information
